I’m so tired.
I’ve just spent an evening competing in a pub quiz. We were joint first but lost to the other team. The tie breaker question was when was Angelina Jolie born. We guessed 1968. The answer was 1975. She’s younger than me?!! The winning team were from near Birmingham. They gave us the beer vouchers they’d won as they were returning home tomorrow. Hooray for us! We won the prize if not the quiz!
Lovely people abide. They are all around. Let me find some of them whilst heading in a specific direction. I feel like a bit of focus might come in handy.
King John was not a good man,
He had his little ways,
And sometimes no-one spoke to him,
For days and days and days.
–
I know a box of chocolates
Would come in handy;
–
King John stood by the window,
And frowned to see below
The happy bands of boys and girls
All playing in the snow.
A while he stood there watching,
And envying them all …
When through the window big and red
There hurtled by his royal head,
And bounced and fell upon the bed,
An india-rubber ball!
Much shortened. My favourite poem from childhood. Let’s see what the world brings.
(And I SHOULD like a pocket-knife
That really cuts.)
