June’s World

Hello everyone. I hope you’re keeping well.

Dean wants an article writing for November. So, here goes!

Dean’s, had a lot to cope with recently with Brenda being in hospital for such a long time. He seemed to take it in his stride, but I can tell that it was taking its toll on him. He has his own issues after all. When Brenda first went into hospital, he was visiting her twice a day but then after 6 weeks, cut down to once a day as it was costing so much in taxis and energy. Sometimes when he went, Brenda was asleep so he didn’t want to disturb her with her being so ill – and left without talking to her. They have been close friends for over 30 years.

At the time of writing, Brenda apparently doesn’t want to see anyone but I think when everything’s sorted out, all will be fine.

Well, we had a red-hot summer this year but I found myself often trying to get into the shade, but our trusty garden umbrella helped keep the sun at bay. We’re going away soon for a little break as we both feel exhausted even though we are both aware of our age (88). I recently said to my grandson who appreciates a bit of fun, whilst I was looking through the mirror that I was looking old – to which he replied “you are old grandma”. I’ve got a good sense of humour and it made me laugh too. He was living two doors away with his family but has now gone back to university where he studies music. He now shares a house with other students in Leeds. So, we don’t see much of him at the moment.

However, we still get to see our great grandson Harlow every weekend. He is 2 ½ years old and a bundle of energy. It is so good to have him in our lives at our age.

When Brenda is okay again, I’ll try and see her if it’s possible – it’s difficult as my husband has days when he’s not too well. We’re still managing to do our own jobs though; I do the housework and Melvyn does the garden and all the DIY. I try to help with the weeding although I know some people just cover their garden with tarmac/concrete if things get too much for them. Everything was lacking greenery with all the dry weather this summer in England but that has since rectified itself.

Well, I’ll say bye until next time.
